Rialto Beach sits at the mouth of the Quillayute River near La Push, Washington (yup, that same famous town associated with the Twilight series) and is one of those beaches to spend more time at to discover something new, exploring the rocks and driftwood or even tide pools. (I arrived early evening so I didn’t explore too much.) The parking lot had plenty of eerie looking trees, but once I scrambled over some driftwood and got closer to the water, the moody ambiance transitioned to a mesmerizing period of being surrounded by salty seawater fog and mist. This isn’t a beach with fine, smooth sand and is better explored with some good shoes. The ocean’s pure and raw sense imbued a fleeting moment of power over my temporary presence.
I was really surprised to find a tide chart posted, so if you do visit, be careful of low tide and high tide when checking out different parts of the beach.
Happy travels!
